KEY ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Red, Yellow & Black Maca
Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a Peruvian plant grown at high altitude that contains essential amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds like macaenes, macamides, and glucosinolates (Peres et al., 2020 ; Wang & Zhu, 2019 ; Kasprzak et al., 2018). The starchy roots of maca are the edible part traditionally used for fertility-enhancing and other medicinal / nutritional properties. A randomized clinical trial has shown that maca has favorable effects on energy and mood, may decrease anxiety and improve sexual desire (Gonzales-Arimborgo et al. 2016).*

Carla Gonzales-Arimborgo et al. pharmaceuticals - August 18, 2016
This clinical trial studied the effects of oral administration of spray-dried extracts of black or red maca (Lepidium meyenii – 3g) in adult human subjects (175 participants) living at low and high altitude during 12 weeks. Among the evaluated primary outcomes, changes in mood, energy, sexual desire and health-related quality of life score (HRQL) were compared in maca-consuming subjects vs placebo groups. Secondary outcomes were acceptability and safety. Consumption of spray-dried extracts of red and black maca resulted in improvement in mood, energy, and overall health status (HRQL). Both red and black maca extracts were well tolerated and safe.
