KEY ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

SAFFRON (Crocus Sativus L.)
Saffron is the dried stigmata of the flowers of saffron (Crocus sativus L.). Saffron extract has been shown to improve mood, reduce subclinical depressive symptoms, and enhance resilience to stress in a randomized clinical trial (Jackson et al., 2021). Saffron supplementation also improved sleep quality and duration in adults (Pachikian et al., 2021; Sadat Rafiei et al., 2023). In recreationally active males, saffron increased exercise enjoyment and heart rate variability (Lopresti & Smith, 2022).*
Among saffron’s biologically active components, crocin may help with postmenopausal osteoporosis by improving bone health and density based on preclinical in vitro & in vivo results (Azam et al., 2022).*
RELATED SCIENTIFIC FACTS

Effects of saffron on sleep quality in healthy adults with self-reported poor sleep: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
Lopresti et al. J Clin Sleep Med - June 15, 2020
The sleep-enhancing effects of a standardized saffron extract was evaluated in healthy adults aged 18–70 with self-reported sleep problems. Based on data collected from 55 participants, the 28-day intake of saffron was associated with a significant improvement in sleep quality, including greater reductions in insomnia severity (ISI - P value=0.017), and non-restorative sleep (RSQ - P value=0.029) compared to placebo. The majority of changes in ISI scores occurred in the first 7 days of saffron treatment.*
